You can expect:
• A larger auditorium, increasing the seats from 950 to 1,200 – allowing us to bring you the major musicals, the best plays and international quality opera, ballet and classical music.
• The Second Space, 150 seat venue, where you can experience or take part in something new. Presenting a range of performances it will also provide youth and community groups with a place to meet, create and perform.
• New bars, three foyers and a riverside café all designed to turn your theatre visit into the perfect night out.
• A piazza on the forecourt,
providing a great place to
meet-up with friends and
enjoy free outdoor
performances
• New spaces for learning, giving you the chance to develop your own skills and talents – including a new home for the Marlowe Youth Theatre.
• Modern meeting spaces for use by businesses and community groups.
• A building that is fully accessible to all patrons, staff and visiting artists.
The Marlowe is scheduled to close early next year, and to re-open in winter 2010. During this period there will be plenty to keep you entertained, with performances planned in a number of different venues.
